The Method Behind the Madness: Why I Built Full Boar Labs
Share
If you look around my workshop right now, you’ll see a scene that can only be described as "Engineered Chaos."
There is a Linux server humming in the corner (running my private AI brain on Ubuntu), a CNC machine covered in dust, a 3D printer that is currently behaving itself (for once, we won't talk about the other 5), and about four different projects that are exactly 85% finished.
Welcome to Full Boar Labs.
I didn't start this brand because I have it all figured out. I started it because creating things—even through the frustration—is one of the only things that makes sense to me.
From Patriot Missiles to Bottling Lines
Before I was a guy selling "Bin of Shame" stickers and tinkering with G-code, I spent my life fixing high-stakes hardware.
I served 5 years in the Army as a Patriot System Repairer. My job was heavy on electronic maintenance—diagnosing complex systems where "turning it off and on again" wasn't really an option (although, it did work every now and then). After the service, I spent 8 years in the industrial sector for a major beverage manufacturer. I climbed the ladder from an entry-level mechanic to Team Lead, and eventually to Maintenance Planner.
I was good at it. But I was also tired.
I was working 40+ hours a week, commuting 7.5 hours a week, and fielding constant overtime calls. I was trading my life for a paycheck, and I was missing time with the most important thing: my family.
The Great Pivot
With six kids and one on the way (yes, seven total) and a wife who runs an incredibly successful business, I did the math. The "security" of the corporate grind wasn't worth the cost of my time.
So, I hung up the safety vest.
Now, I work for my wife as a photographer for her company, Effortless Elopements. I make just as much money, but I’ve traded the 7.5-hour commute for more time at home.
And with that reclaimed time, Full Boar Labs was born.
The Reality of the "Maker" Mindset (and ADHD)
Full Boar Labs is my creative outlet. It’s where I go when I’m not shooting weddings, raising children, or debugging my home network.
But let’s be real for a second: I have a tool-buying addiction.
I am the guy who buys a specialized router bit for a project I might do in six months (it currently lives on a stack of flat-pack bar stool boxes in my garage). I am the guy with ADHD who starts a project with 100% enthusiasm, gets distracted by a shiny new microcontroller, and leaves the first project on the bench for three weeks.
I know I’m not alone in this.
If you’ve ever spent four hours troubleshooting a 3D printer only to realize the bed wasn't actually level, or if you have a "graveyard of good intentions" in your garage, you are my people.
Why "Full Boar"?
Because I don't know how to do things halfway. Whether it’s building a server rack, planning a woodworking project, or just being a dad, I go all in (at least, until the ADHD kicks in!)
This shop is about celebrating that process. It’s about the joy of making, the frustration of failing, and the satisfaction of finally seeing a project cross the finish line (eventually, probably).
I’m still working on getting organized. I’m still working on finishing those half-done projects. But in the meantime, I’m going to keep making cool stuff, and I hope you’ll come along for the ride.
Welcome to the Lab.
